How to read these numbers
- Gross WPM counts every character you typed, divided by five, per minute. It ignores mistakes.
- Net WPM counts only words that match the prompt exactly. This is the number that matters for data entry.
- KPH (keystrokes per hour) is how some employers describe throughput for numeric or alphanumeric entry.
- Accuracy is correct words divided by words typed. A high gross WPM with low accuracy usually means slower real output, because corrections cost more time than careful typing.
